This just a Topic for testing the WYSIWYG post editor of the Aura's site
in order to answer to the post https://www.get-aura.org/forums/index.p … 1265#p1265

As I get issues with Firefox, I will first now try with QuteBrowser based on QtWebEngine (Chromium family) more info can be found here :

Blink (browser engine)

The initial post edition contains :

  • an row URL directly pasted as content

  • an hyperlink edited with WYSIWYG link button -> "Blink (browser engine)"

Preview was the same as shown in post #1
-> the edited link is lost

After the preview,
link bas been edited again to fix it adding a new word "Wikipedia"
but it results that the link isn't fixed and the new word is lost too.

Preview of this (#2) is ok

Trying to past the content of the #1 in a new Reply

I get a red POST ERRORS message with Preview :

The following errors need to be corrected before the message can be posted:

  • URL was opened within itself, this is not allowed

Submit doesn't work better and shows the same ERROR

I had to go back directly to the Forum's Home as I was stuck!

[EDITED]

That's because the code of the above quote (modified to allow the post)
was :

a red [b]POST ERRORS[/b] message :
[quote]The following errors need to be corrected before the message can be posted:
[list][*][url] was opened within itself, this is not allowed[/*][/list][/quote][b]Submit[/b] doesn't work better and shows the same ERROR

with the word "url" within square brackets but it is the editor who's done that, not me!
I've just copy/paste errors's message into editor box to show the message in the post.

qutebrowser (pronounced "cute browser") is a web browser for Linux, Windows, and macOS operating systems with vim-style key bindings and a minimal GUI.[8] It is keyboard-driven and is inspired by similar software such as Vimperator and dwb.[9] It uses DuckDuckGo as the default search engine. Qutebrowser is included in the native repositories of Linux distributions such as Fedora and Arch Linux.

Trying to paste from the system clipboard a piece of :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qutebrowser

All the links are presnt in the editor box

[EDITED]
Here above everything goes fine !

I try again : QuteBrowser | Wikipedia

That's the bbcode of what was looking like a link

I try again : QuteBrowser | Wikipedia

Now in the WYSIWYG mode I try to put directly BBcode:

QuteBrowser | Wikipedia

and submit

[EDITED]

Conclusion this is the Link form that is failing !

This could be seen better in "code" mode
in fact the form produces the following code where the url's argument is lacking

[url=]QuteBrowser | Wikipedia[/url]

Test with :
Surf a  fast and light browser based on WebKit

First small behaviour I don't like :

[b]Test with :
[/b]Surf a fast and light browser based on WebKit

=> the closing tag for strong (/b) has move to the start of the new line

When using de Code mode
closing tag stays at its previous place (end of the line)

uuuuuuu UUUUUUUnnnnn     nnnnnn nnnnn
nnnn ssssssssnnnnnn SSSSSSS nnnnnnn  sssssssNNNNNNN NNNNN BBBBBBnnnnnnnn
nnnnnnnn
nnnnn

Appening is ok!
Duis arcu massa, scelerisque vitae, consequat in, pretium a, enim. Pellentesque congue. Ut in risus volutpat libero pharetra tempor.
Cras vestibulum bibendum augue.
=> Lipsum has been pated successfully seem to work properly

Underlined and Striked work good to but when you deselect them their buttons stay greyed as selected untill the next key stroke. That's really an issue but it misleads the contributor.

Test : Surf fast and light web browser

=> Link button in WYSIWYG mode definitly doesn't work !

and in code mode produces :

Surf fast and light

[url=]Surf fast and light[/url]

in #10

In fact  :

[b]Test with :
[/b]Surf a fast and light browser based on WebKit

leads to the suppression of the STRONGed content in the post

I had to (re)edit as :

[b]Test with :[/b]

to Get : " Test with : " correctly displayed at the first line

This happens each time I try to put a strong line as a Title in first line of a reply

[EDITED]

Back to Firefox

Whole Lines in strong
leads to issues because

  • the /b tag jump to next line

  • cursor is place before /b in the new line so it goes on with strong and contributor can't fix that from WYSIWYG

  • after submit some syntax error should be detected and the line is suppressed during the process

As shown above the bullet list seems to work fine

I get the same problem with an italic line than with a strong one

Problem is when the closing tag is at the line end
whole line doesn't matter !

produces :

[list=1][*]
[/*][/list]

with the cursor misplaced => stuck the WYSIWYG mode

This picture has been hand-written with :

[img]https://hebergeur-images.com/up/bdae5029b6d00e96f4a9cb82f86b341c.png[/img]

as the Image button only produces

[img][/img]

wich is of no use

When (re)editing existent reply => "PREVIEW" doesn't work properly

Instead to show a preview display box in the upper part of the page,
it only displays an empty (of texte) editor box.

Luckily the Go Back button works toward the previous editing screen without loosing the current changes
